Cisco introduces the ESS 2020 embedded switching board that brings Cisco’s intelligent networking technology into a small form factor. The solution can be applied to diverse applications and harsh environments from military vehicles, high performance trains, and industrial vehicles/machines.
With the understanding that “one box does not fit all,” Cisco put a ruggedized component of the Cisco Industrial Ethernet solution in a board form factor that customers/partners can easily integrate into their ruggedized casings used in harsh environments.
This form factor allows Cisco to work with third-party industrial vendors, such as Pason, to bring Cisco networking intelligence to their industrial devices/vehicles.
With Pason, Cisco ESS 2020 boards will be part of the Versatile Services Platform (VSP) so data at remote oil rigs in North America can be analyzed by corporate systems in real-time.
The Cisco ESS-2020 gives customers extreme flexibility to connect things, in the harshest environments over a common Ethernet network infrastructure to more easily manage those things and the data being driven from those things.
The ESS 2020 was developed for used in military, transportation, mining, public safety, manufacturing, oil and gas.
