Print On Anything — Even Fruit

SATO (Charlotte, NC) has announced that SATO printers currently support the GS1 Composite Symbology — GS1 DataBar. The DataBar makes printing on small, hard-to-mark items like loose produce easy. The system can even provide barcode information, like weight, price, or data codes.

SATO (Charlotte, NC) has announced that SATO printers currently support the GS1 Composite Symbology — GS1 DataBar. The DataBar makes printing on small, hard-to-mark items like loose produce easy. The system can even provide barcode information, like weight, price, or data codes. Encoding of GTIN, which provides brand identification, shrink and category management, and reduced out-of-stocks, is also enabled. For produces that are too small to carry a full-size EAN/UPC — such as jewelry and hardware products — the DataBar could become a viable replacement for applying important data. According to the company, their goal is to encourage the DataBar at a global level in open trade by 2014.
