Automatically-Adjustable Distance Sensoring

Baumer (Southington, CT) has introduced IP69K-rated laser distance sensors, featuring corrosion-resistant stainless steel housings, for use in harsh applications, such as washdowns or exposure to caustic compounds. The OADR 20 sensors have a PMMA front screen that is safe for use in food and beverage processing.

Three distinct teachable measuring distances are available — 30 to 600mm, 50 to 300mm, and 100 to 600mm — with resolutions up to 0.005mm and response times of less than 0.9ms. The OADR 20 sensors also feature an internal signal controller that automatically adjust the light emitted based on the strength of the return signal, accommodating for color differences, dust, smoke, and other variables that might affect accuracy.
