AMD Products Head Leaves For 'New Opportunity'

Rick Bergman is departing and will be replaced temporarily by CEO Rory Read, but was mum on his new destination.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (AP) -- Computer microprocessor maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. said Thursday that the company's products group leader, Rick Bergman, is departing and will be replaced temporarily by CEO Rory Read.

AMD said Bergman is leaving "to pursue a new opportunity" but did not elaborate what that will be.

The chip maker also said that Paul Struhsaker, 49, will lead its recently created commercial business division. Struhsaker will lead product management and planning for the company's server and supercomputer products, as well as for chips that go into non-PC products. He previously worked as senior vice president of engineering at Comcast Corp.
