Garmin Cleared Of Violating Patents

Maker of GPS navigation devices said U.S. International Trade Commission has determined that it did not violate the patents of Pioneer Electronics.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Garmin Ltd., the maker of GPS navigation devices, on Monday said the U.S. International Trade Commission has determined that it did not violate the patents of Pioneer Electronics.

The final determination was issued Friday, Garmin said, and ends the ITC's review of Garmin's products.

Japan's Pioneer Electronics did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Garmin is based in Switzerland but has its operational headquarters in Olathe, Kan.
