NEW YORK (AP) -- Tyco Electronics Ltd. said Thursday it will officially change its name to TE Connectivity Ltd. by March 25.
The company said shareholders approved the change on Wednesday. The Swiss company, which makes electronic components, network products and undersea telecommunications systems, first proposed the name change in December.
The company needs Swiss regulators to clear the change, and it expects that approval to come by March 25. Shares of the company will still trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "TEL."
Tyco Electronics was spun off from Tyco International Inc. in July. Its shares closed at $35.40 on Wednesday.
