Emerson Electric Names COO Monser As President

Electrical products manufacturer said Tuesday it has named Chief Operating Officer Edward L. Monser to the additional role of president.

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Emerson Electric Co., which manufactures electrical products, said Tuesday it has named Chief Operating Officer Edward L. Monser to the additional role of president.

Monser, 60, takes over as president from David N. Farr, 55, who will continue his role as CEO of Emerson. Farr said Monser will play a large role in integrating the company's nearly $4 billion in recent acquisitions.

Monser has been chief operating officer since 2001. In that role, he has been responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company.

Shares of Emerson rose 72 cents to close at $53.80.
