Chief Industries Sells Electronic Display Unit

Deal doubles SignCo's employee base, as company moves from sports marketing industry into commercial sign business.

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) - Chief Industries has sold its electronic display division to Lincoln-based SignCo, doubling SignCo's employee base, a company spokesman said.

SignCo is owned by manufacturing company IMSCORP.

IMSCORP chief executive Nick Cusick said the deal reached Friday will help SignCo move from the sports marketing industry into the commercial sign business.

Cusick would not say how much SignCo paid for the purchase.

Cusick says most of the former employees of Chief Industries' Electronic Display Systems division were rehired by SignCo, which is changing its name to SignCo EDS. Those who weren't rehired left on their own before the sale was made final.
