Belden Will Acquire German Industrial Connectivity Company

St. Louis-based company's aquisition of Lumberg Automation Components will strengthen its position as provider of factory automation products.

Belden, a manufacturer of signal transmission products, announced Wednesday its acquistion of Lumberg Automation Components GmbH, a German supplier of industrial connectivity products for factory automation machinery, for an undisclosed amount.

The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of the second quarter of 2007.

Lumberg Automation, based in St. Louis, Mo., had revenues of about $75 million in 2006. The 70-year-old company's product line includes industrial connectors, high performance cord-sets and field bus communication components.

According to John Stroup, president and CEO of Belden, the acquisition will help the company to expand its global market reach and to grow in the industrial market, and will complement the Belden's recent acquistion of Hirschmann Automation and Control, and industrial connectivity supplier.
