Peloton Recalls Bike Pedals for Laceration Risk

These pedals are doing more to people's legs than just sculpting them.

A voluntary recall has been issued by the makers of a pricey exercise bike thatโ€™s injured users.

Peloton announced that 27,000 of its PR70P clip-in pedals can be replaced at no cost to the user due to a โ€œlaceration hazard.โ€

120 customers have complained, 16 of whom have reported leg injuries.

The axle on the pedals can reportedly snap while in use, โ€œwhich may result in injury."

Some customer lacerations have been severe to the point where theyโ€™ve needed medical care, including stitches.

Users with these pedals are being instructed to stop using their bikes and discard the pedals immediately.

Peloton stationary bikes start at $1,895 and the company recommends users replace their pedals annually.
