Some 56 workers have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Copper River Seafoods processing plant in Anchorage, Alaska. The outbreak could be more severe as 30 more employees haven't yet received their test results.
The company has 134 workers on staff and most live in the city, which has local officials concerned, because the size of the outbreak means that community spread among friends and family members is likely.
Contract tracing is currently underway and plant workers have been isolated in accordance with CDC protocols.
According to the Anchorage Daily News, the company closed the facility for deep cleaning after the first case was reported.
According to the Anchorage Health Department, the tests were administered from July 17 to July 22.
With 56 confirmed cases, the outbreak at Copper River Seafoods is the third largest in the state.
