BlackBerry Service Issues Spread Into U.S.

Millions of BlackBerry users remained without service on Wednesday as a three-day outage spread to North America. BlackBerry maker Research in Motion blamed its proprietary email technology for the widespread issues. When users send an email, it goes to a BlackBerry server. A core switch used to transmit these emails has failed, and RIM's failover to a backup switch did not work either.
