Graphic Products has released an easy-to-use chemical labeling flowchart and infographic, aiding employers and manufacturers to select the appropriate chemical label for safety and compliance.
The infographic walks users through a simple step-by-step process to determine if a chemical label must meet OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) criteria or Globally Harmonized System (GHS) criteria. The flowchart was released just in time for OSHA’s June 1, 2015 compliance deadline. By June 1, all chemical manufacturers, importers, distributors, and employers must provide updated chemical labels.
“Many of our customers have been confused by the changes in labeling requirements,” said Brian McFadden, compliance specialist with Graphic Products. “In trying to keep their workers safe, they've combined old rules with third-party standards, and only made things more tangled. They needed a simple, straightforward guide to understand what is actually required.”
The complimentary flowchart is available online. Graphic Products has released a new OSHA best practices labeling video, and a complimentary best practice guide to HazCom 2012, which provides an in-depth analysis of the standard’s updates for hazard communication, the transition to safety data sheets (SDSs), and the standard’s alignment with the GHS.
