Sending More than Mixed Signals

ControlAir's P200 and P290 pneumatic-to-current transducers convert 3- to 15-, 3- to 27- or 6- to 30-PSIG air pressures into a two-wire 4- to 20- or 10- to 50-mA signal.

ControlAir P200 and P290ControlAir has designed its P200 and P290 pneumatic-to-current P/I transducers to convert standard 3- to 15-, 3- to 27- or 6- to 30-PSIG air pressures into a 2-wire 4- to 20- or 10- to 50-mA signal. With a total accuracy up to ±0.10 percent, and customized inputs as low as 0 to 20 inches water column or as high as 0 to 50 PSIG, P200/P290 transducers require a 10-VDC minimum power supply, and provide protection from both conducted and radiated radio frequency interference from 20 MHz to 1 GHz. Since their solid-state design uses no moving parts and consumes no air, a billion-cycle lifetime in shock and vibration environments can be expected. According to the company, more specifically:

  • The P200 provides both accuracy and repeatability, as well as a NEMA 4X housing designed for the hazardous environments of the chemical and petrochemical industries, mining, or oil and gas fields. It is FM approved and CSA certified as explosion proof for Class I, Div. 1, Groups A, B, C and D; dust ignition proof for Class II, Div. 1, Groups E, F and G; and suitable for Class III, Div. 1 locations. Moreover, the P200 offers infinite resolution and a response time of 10 milliseconds for 99 percent of step change.
  • The industrial-grade P290 incorporates the same accuracy and reliability as the P200, without the explosion-proof housing. Its modular design allows convenient panel or DIN rail mounting for individual or high density applications. The P290 is used extensively in the modern automated process systems of the pharmaceutical, semiconductor, paper and food industries.
