aPriori (Concord,MA) has announced the availability of the latest release of its Product Cost Management software platform (version 2011r2), which offers new functionality and enhancements to expand its cost optimization capabilities for companies with high-tolerance machining requirements. The software is able to precisely determine the cost of a part or product from a CAD model base on the manufacturing process, materials to be used and the region where it will be produced.
New features added to the platform include:
- Enhanced machining — Companies that machine components from stock will now be able to accurately automate the cost estimates.
- New models — aPriori has added cost models from a handful of new manufacturing processes, including packaging, rapid prototyping, blow molding, roto molding and injection molding.
- Detailed estimates for plastic parts — The new tooling estimates include information about the physical attributes of the tool, materials purchased, and labor and machine times.
