TOKYO, July 10 (Kyodo) — Toshiba Corp. said Wednesday its U.S. affiliate Toshiba International Corp. completed an expansion to its inverter plant in Houston, Texas, that it began in August 2012.

The expansion is part of a $20 million capital investment in Toshiba International's medium voltage industrial inverter production, aiming to double production capacity by 2015 to respond to anticipated demand for its industrial products in the U.S. market.

Toshiba said it expects increased production of shale gas in North America to drive growth in the oil, gas and thermal power plant industries and to increase demand for motors and inverters.
