BARTONVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Authorities in central Illinois are trying to figure out what caused the death of an employee at Keystone Steel & Wire Co.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says 40-year-old John DeCanter of Manito was found unresponsive in the plant's shower room Wednesday. He was later pronounced dead at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that DeCanter was a maintenance worker with more than four years of experience at Keystone's steel mill.

Ingersoll says he'd told coworkers he wasn't feeling well before he went into the shower room.

An autopsy is planned.
