Officials Investigating Death Of Maintenance Worker

CALHOUN, Ga. (AP) — Federal officials are investigating the death of a Georgia maintenance worker who was hit in the head by a heavy machine at a Gordon County industrial plant. CALHOUN, Ga. (AP) — Federal officials are investigating the death of a Georgia maintenance worker who was hit in the head by a heavy machine at a Gordon County industrial plant.

Gordon County Deputy Coroner Bo Nicholson says Shin Gyun Kim of Rossville taken by helicopter to a hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., but died several hours later.

Nicholson said the worker was replacing a hydraulic cylinder at L.G. Chemicals Industrial Materials Co. when the machine swung around and struck him in the head around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that agents from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
