DUNCAN, S.C. (AP) — Auto parts producer Fehrer (FAIR'-er) Automotive is expanding in South Carolina, creating 130 new jobs over five years.

State and local officials announced Tuesday the company plans to invest $14 million renovating an existing 100,000-square-foot facility in Spartanburg County.

Fehrer Automotive has outgrown its 80,000-square-foot operation in Fountain Inn. The facility in Duncan is about 20 miles away.

The company plans to begin hiring in September.

It is a subsidiary of Germany-based F.S. Fehrer Automotive, which makes car seats, arm rests, headrests and other parts.

The company opened its first U.S. plant in Fountain Inn in 1999 to make seat cushions for BMW sport utility vehicles.

Spartanburg County approved a fee-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement and a $200,000 credit. The state will provide withholding tax credits when the company meets its hiring promises.
