LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Hawker Beechcraft Corp. says in a letter to employees that layoffs planned for later this month will have minimal effect on its Little Rock aircraft finishing plant.

Arkansas Business reported (http://bit.ly/sU80U8 ) Tuesday that the letter says it's possible there will be no layoffs at the plant at Little Rock's airport.

Last week, the company told employees to expect the company to file a required 60-day notice that it was planning a layoff.

The Wichita, Kan.-based company cites economic pressure in the U.S. and abroad for the cutbacks.

The letter to Little Rock employees says the plant has been operating at such a high volume that there appears to be no room for layoffs. The company says it was so busy it had to contract out some of the plant's work.
