Toyota Industries To Build Car Parts Test Course

Toyota Industries Corp. will set up its own test course to speed up the development of key hybrid and electric car components including motors and AC-DC converters.

NAGOYA, July 24 (Kyodo) — Toyota Industries Corp. will set up its own test course to speed up the development of key hybrid and electric car components including motors and AC-DC converters instead of relying on the facilities of the Toyota Motor Corp. group, company officials said Tuesday.

The new test course in Mie Prefecture is expected to begin operations in 2017, according to the officials. Land development costs are estimated at 4 billion yen.

The facility will likely be set up on a 64-hectare site near Sharp Corp.'s liquid crystal display panel plant in Kameyama. An environmental impact assessment is due to begin this autumn.
