Haley is scheduled to attend a welcoming ceremony Thursday afternoon for Be Green Packaging. The California-based packaging company announced in April that it plans to open a manufacturing and distribution center in Ridgeland next year.

The company says it plans to invest $7 million over five years.

Be Green makes packaging for customers such as Whole Foods and Gillette. It's planning to occupy a building where mobile homes were once made.

The company says it plans to import goods through the Port of Charleston for distribution throughout the United States. It has been manufacturing goods in China and distributing them via Boston.
