Fla. Citrus Growers Upset Over Change In Tax

Florida citrus growers are upset about a trade commission's vote to end a tax on the import of Brazilian juice into the United States.

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) — Florida citrus growers are upset about a trade commission's vote to end a tax on the import of Brazilian juice into the United States.

Florida growers said Wednesday they will consider appealing the decision made recently by the U.S. International Trade Commission.

The trade commission revoked an order which had placed extra duties on the import of Brazilian orange juice into the United States by three Brazilian orange processors. Commissioners said the removal of the duties won't hurt Florida growers.

Florida growers disagree, saying the import of cheaper juice can drive them out of business

The Brazilian companies that had been under the order were Cutrale Citrus Juice, Citrusuco Paulista and Louis Dreyfus.
