Beam Sells Bottling Plant to Sazerac

Beam, which is based in Illinois, announced Wednesday that it's sold its Maine bottling plant to a subsidiary of Sazerac Co. Beam took ownership of the plant at the same time it acquired Pinnacle Vodka from White Rock Distillery in 2012.

LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — Spirits maker Beam Inc. is announcing the sale of its Maine bottling plant to another spirits company.

Beam, which is based in Illinois, announced Wednesday that it's sold its plant in Lewiston to a subsidiary of Sazerac Co.

Beam took ownership of the plant at the same time it acquired Pinnacle Vodka from White Rock Distillery in 2012. It said it would gradually move the bottling of Pinnacle Vodka and Calico Jack Rum from Maine to Kentucky.

Louisiana-based Sazerac Co. says it will continue operating the plant as an alcohol bottling facility and retain its 120 employees.

Beam will lease the plant back from Sazerac through at least next March when the transition of Pinnacle Vodka and Calico Jack Rum to Kentucky is complete.
