Frozen-Food Maker Closing Pa. Plant in 2014

A Houston-based frozen-food provider is shutting down a plant in central Pennsylvania that employs 160 people. Windsor Foods told employees at the Bloomsburg plant on Friday that it plans to shut down the plant in late February or early March.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Houston-based frozen-food provider is shutting down a plant in central Pennsylvania that employs 160 people.

The Press-Enterprise of Bloomsburg reports that Windsor Foods told employees at the Bloomsburg plant on Friday that it plans to shut down the plant in late February or early March.

A company spokeswoman says the firm is consolidating its Italian food manufacturing line and a pasta-producing facility in Toluca, Ill., will expand to absorb the Bloomsburg plant's duties.

The spokeswoman, Lynn Hall, says Windsor is helping the employees find other jobs and get severance pay. The Bloomsburg plant was flooded in 2004, 2006 and 2011, and Hall says that played a role in the company's decision.
