COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Officials at Bob Evans Farms, Inc. say the company is shutting down its fresh-sausage production line in Bidwell, Ohio.

The Columbus Dispatch reports 57 employees will lose their jobs at the plant 100 miles southeast of Columbus. They'll receive severance benefits and a chance to transfer within the company.

Officials at the Columbus-based company say they're halting the fresh-sausage line because there's too much processing capacity and not enough live sow market supply.

The plant in Bidwell will continue to make precooked sausage links and patties.

Bob Evans produces fresh sausage at plants in Hillsdale, Mich.; Richardson, Texas, and Xenia, Ohio.
