BENICIA, Calif. (Ralphs-Pugh) — The Ralphs-Pugh Company is celebrating its 100th year in business. The company was founded in San Francisco, Calif., in 1912 by William J. Pugh as a distributor of rubber goods and products focusing on agriculture and food processing. Two years later, Pugh and his father-in-law, Isaac Ralphs formed a partnership and began manufacturing custom conveyor belts and belt slitting machines.

The company incorporated in 1921 as The Ralphs-Pugh Company. Over the years, the company continued to manufacture belt slitters and expanded its distribution activities to serve a wide range of industrial markets. In 1959 the company manufactured its first conveyor rollers, and eventually closed the distribution and belt slitter manufacturing operations to specialize in the manufacture of conveyor rollers and components.

Today, the company is led by Bill Pugh, the founder's grandson. Pugh believes that the spirit of entrepreneurism and the ability to provide solutions for its customers have been key factors contributing to Ralph-Pugh's longevity and success.
