The Walla Walla, Washington-based company said it had a loss of 3 cents per share.
The automation systems manufacturer posted revenue of $27.4 million in the period.
Key Technology shares have risen 8.5 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $12.54, a rise of 50 percent in the last 12 months.
