BUCHANAN, N.Y. (AP) — Officials say control room operators have safely shut down New York's Indian Point 3 nuclear power plant.
Entergy Nuclear says there was an issue Wednesday with a pump that feeds water into the plant's steam generators.
Indian Point 2 continues to operate at full power.
The two plants supply about one-quarter of the power used in New York City and Westchester County.
On May 9, insulation failure led to a transformer fire at Indian Point 3.
Indian Point is located in Buchanan, about 30 miles north of midtown Manhattan.
