Speaking at a forum hosted by the Chemical Industry Council of California, representatives from U.S. chemical companies said a proposed overhaul of California's chemical regulations could cause more problems than it's intended to solve. One speaker, Donald Wood, global technology leader for Dow Agrosciences, said the proposals in a recent report to the California Senate could result in "overreaction without understanding" by the government. He explained that the report by the University of California at Berkeley would place more regulatory burdens on the industry and does not express the everyday benefits of chemistry.
