ACT in association with CII and Tata Chemicals presents Best Chemistry Teachers Awards (BCTA) - 2012

To invite applications for India's Best Chemistry Teachers from around the country

New Delhi, Delhi, September 6, 2012 /India PRwire/ -- On the occasion of Teachers Day today, Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT), in association with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and Tata Chemicals Ltd., invites entries for its second series of "Best Chemistry Teachers Awards (BCTA)" 2012. This initiative has been launched to honour exemplary teachers involved in teaching Chemistry and its allied subjects.

With the glorious success of the awards instituted last year to commemorate United Nation's International Year of Chemistry (IYC 2011), BCTA now steps into the second year. The call for entries is now open and will be closed on 30th September 2012. The nominations for the entries are classified in the below five distinct award categories:

1) Best Chemistry Teacher (Class XI/XII and equivalent)

2) Best Chemistry Teacher (Bachelor's Degree and equivalent)

3) Best Chemistry Teacher (For Master's Degree and above)

4) Best Chemistry Teacher for promotion of Chemistry as a subject

5) Best Young Chemistry Teacher

Tata Chemicals has created an interactive website called the Human Touch of Chemistry (www.humantouchofchemistry.com), wherein interested teachers can download the nomination forms and send in their nominations for awards in the above mentioned categories. The Chemistry teachers can also approach ACT - Association of Chemistry Teachers present across India to send in their nominations.

The winners for the awards will be selected by an eminent panel comprising renowned Indian scientists, professionals and academia and will be felicitated by Mr. Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Human Resource Development; Communications and Information Technology at the CII Global Higher Education Summit 2012 on 8th November, 2012 in New Delhi.

Speaking on the BCTA announcement, Mr. DV Prabhu, Association of Chemistry Teachers said, "We are delighted to bring the Best Chemistry Teacher Award for the second year and invite teachers to participate. Last year, we initiated the award in association with Tata Chemicals and it was enthusiastically received among the education fraternity. We also hope this will go a long way to raise the bar of chemistry education in the country."
