The west side of Providence, R.I. is planning a green energy project under which residents and businesses would get incentives to install solar panels.

Individuals and businesses in Federal Hill and West End are being urged to take part in the West Side Solar Energy Program, which aims to make the installation of solar panels affordable through renewable energy subsidies and tax credits.

The West Broadway Neighborhood Association is looking for 25 or more neighbors or businesses to participate. The effort is being supported by the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, the Office of Energy Resources and RI Renewable Energy Fund, along with federal tax credits.
