Fire Damages Building at Water Plant

The department says the blaze occurred in the incinerator building, which has been out of service since September for flood repairs.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — A fire has damaged a building at the water pollution control plant in Cedar Rapids.

The city Fire Department says firetrucks were dispatched around 7:20 a.m. Friday. No injuries have been reported.

The department says the blaze occurred in the incinerator building, which has been out of service since September for flood repairs. The fire damaged an opening to a channel that contains piping, conduit and a conveyor belt.

The fire cause is being investigated.
