The American Chemical Society, a trade group for chemical industry professionals, spent $80,000 in the first quarter to lobby Congress on issues related to education and the federal budget, according to a disclosure report.
The amount compared with $40,000 that the organization spent in the year-ago quarter and $40,000 in the fourth quarter.
From January through March, the group lobbied the House of Representatives and the Senate on general budget issues, education-related legislation and public access to federally funded research, according to an April 19 report filed at the House clerk's office.
