DuPont Expects Bumper Harvest, Solid Ag Sales

DuPont Executive Vice President James Borel said 2010 harvest results are rolling in and DuPont expects the performance will please growers.

NEW YORK (AP) — DuPont Executive Vice President James Borel said Tuesday that the company expects its agricultural and nutrition unit to see solid sales and earnings growth this year.

Borel spoke at the Credit Suisse Chemicals and Ag Science Conference in New York.

Borel said 2010 harvest results are just starting to roll in and DuPont expects the performance will please growers. DuPont makes herbicides, insecticides, fertilizers and other products.

DuPont's agriculture and nutrition unit has been one of its few bright spots during the economic downturn. The unit's sales increased 16 percent to $3.0 billion in the second quarter of this year.
