Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar, Chennai, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Kochi,, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamilnadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Karnataka, July 2, 2011 /India PRwire/ -- Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Limited (GACL), a company promoted by Government of Gujarat, has commissioned its third phase 14000 TPA Hydrogen Peroxide (100% basis) expansion project at Dahej. With this expansion, the total Hydrogen Peroxide production capacity of the company has increased to 39080 MTPA (100% basis). The technology for this project is supplied by Chematur Engineering AB, Sweden. The first tanker of Hydrogen Peroxide from the newly expanded project was despatched by Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra, IAS, Managing Director - GACL, on 25th June 2011 at Dahej. The company has also commissioned its 15000 MTA stable bleaching powder unit at Dahej in March 2011.

The foundation stone laying ceremony of these projects was done by Honourable Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi in October 2009. The company is also in the process of setting up a project to manufacture 20000 TPA of Sodium Chlorate Crystals. GACL has awarded the job of engineering services, procurement assistance and supply of proprietary items for the project to M/s UHDE India Private Ltd. Sodium Chlorate is mainly used for bleaching in paper and pulp industries. Presently country's demand is met through imports. Truly, a very large quantity of it is being imported. Thus the project will useful for import substitution. The project has got synergy with the core business of GACL. The company has started work for the project and it is scheduled to be commissioned in June, 2013. Apart from this, GACL has planned several new projects which will be implemented in next 3-4 years.
