Daimler Sees Revenue Rise In 2Q

Company says revenues were up 28 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, yielding a pretax profit of $2.7 billion.

BERLIN (AP) -- Daimler AG says revenues were up 28 percent year-on-year in the second quarter, yielding a pretax profit of euro2.1 billion ($2.7 billion). It also plans to raise its full-year earnings outlook.

Daimler said in a preliminary report Friday that revenues totaled euro25.1 billion in the March-June period, up from euro19.6 billion a year earlier.

It made a pretax loss of euro1 billion in last year's second quarter. It says this year's performance was powered in particular by the Mercedes-Benz Cars unit, which has seen healthy sales increases in China and the United States.

Daimler didn't give net earnings figures. Its full report is due July 27.

The company says it will increase its guidance for 2010 profit before interest and tax in that report.
