PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — Fire officials in Panama City say three workers were injured after an explosion at a local chemical plant.

Lt. Tim Talley of the Panama City Fire Department says three workers at E.B. Pipe Coating, part of the Berg Pipe complex at the Port of Panama City, were taken to Bay Medical Center in the Panhandle town on Monday.

Two workers received second and third-degree burns, according to emergency workers and another worker received second-degree burns on his elbow.

Smoke from the blaze, which followed the morning explosion is no longer visible, according to local media reports.

Company officials say the plant will be closed for at least several days.
