CENTREVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Bibb County landed a $46.3 million production plant deal for a German auto supplier.

MöllerTech chose Bibb County for the production plant, Al.com (http://bit.ly/2emqITr) reported. The company said during a groundbreaking Tuesday that Bibb beat out more than 30 sites in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.

"As a rural community, the impact of this project will be felt for many, many years in Bibb County," Bibb County Commissioner Ricky Hubbard said.

MöllerTech plans to have the site in full production by the end of 2019. The 150,000-square-foot plant will employ 220 people and will be MöllerTech's flagship production facility.

"We're going to be moving very quickly, and it won't be long until we have the grand opening of this plant," said Steve Jordan, President of MöllerTech North America.

The plant will manufacture interior parts for the next generation of Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicles. The Vance plant will build them as part of its previously announced $1.3 billion expansion.

The company announced last month it would build its third North American plant in Bibb County. The company has facilities in Elberton, Georgia and Detroit, Michigan.

MöllerTech also makes parts for Audi, BMW, Daimler, GM, Honda, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Toyota.

"We decided to come to Bibb County because of the support of the community," Jordan said. "It's a very good feeling."

Gray Construction is the project's general contractor.
