TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — A startup aerospace company has chosen Tucson for its headquarters and a plant to manufacture rockets to carry small satellites into space.

Vector Space System's manufacturing facility will be located in a Pima County business and research park and is expected to create 200 jobs. Company spokesman Jason Michael says the average salary will be $75,000.

Gov. Doug Ducey's office announced the company's intentions in advance of a Thursday afternoon news conference.

Vector Space Systems CEO Jim Cantrell says his company plans to build about 100 launch vehicles annually at first and to increase from there. Launches will take place in California, Alaska and Florida.
