JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a special agent has died during a drug investigation in west Tennessee.
TBI spokesman Josh DeVine says in a news release that 35-year-old Special Agent De'Greaun Frazier was working with other agents and narcotics officers when he met a person for a controlled buy in a car Tuesday afternoon in Jackson.
DeVine says the person produced a firearm in an attempt to rob Frazier and an informant and fired once, hitting Frazier.
Frazier died at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The suspect was apprehended a short distance away and is in custody with charges pending.
Frazier had been with TBI since February after working as an officer with the Millington Police Department.
