JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A Chicago-based freight car maker is planning to close its administrative office in western Pennsylvania following a historically poor second quarter.
FreightCar America, Inc. says the closure of the Johnstown facility is part of a planned 15 percent company-wide reduction of salaried workforce.
The company has said its consolidated revenues were about $126 million in the second quarter of this year. That number was more than $235 million during the same quarter last year.
The company expects to reduce its yearly operating costs by about $5 million.
The number of workers who will lose their jobs remains unclear, as does the date of the closure.
