INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Experts predict Carrier Corp.'s decision to close its manufacturing operation on Indianapolis' west side will have a ripple effect across the state.

The air conditioning giant has planned to cut 1,400 manufacturing jobs over the next three years and move the production facility to Mexico.

Jerry Conover is director of the Indiana Business Research Center at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. Conover tells the Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/1UTqGOI ) that the plant's closure will have an impact beyond the city. The closure could also cost the state's economy over $100 million a year.

Conover cites economic predictions made by the research center.
