FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin says a British company that specializes in making sports nutrition supplements plans to open a production facility in central Kentucky, bringing up to 350 jobs.

Bevin said in a statement that construction is under way on a 210,000-square-foot facility in Shepherdsville that will include space for offices and manufacturing of high-protein food, snacks, drinks and a clothing line. The statement says the facility is expected to open in April.

Cend, which was founded in 2004, produces the Myprotein brand. It is part of online retailer The Hut Group, which is based in Northwich, United Kingdom.

Bevin said Cend joins nearly 450 internationally owned companies located in Kentucky.

State Rep. Linda Belcher of Shepherdsville welcomed the announcement, saying the facility would provide much-needed jobs for the community.
