Everything looks serene from way up high and massive oil rigs are no exception.
This week, this image of BP's Na Kika offshore rig was circulated on Twitter and it shows drilling from a vantage point rarely seen. The image was created by SeaEnergy, a company that provides business strategies to the energy services industry.
The photo's caption read: "BP's Na Kika platform operates at a water depth 20 times the height of the Statue of Liberty." Here are a few more fun facts about Na Kika:
The Na Kika field operates about 140 miles southeast of New Orleans and is jointly owned by BP and Royal Dutch Shell.
The Na Kika platform sits on more than 6,000 feet of water and began production in 2003.
Last year, BP invested in new equipment for the rig with the hopes of increasing its daily haul from 130,000 barrels to 170,000.
