AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. said Tuesday that it named Roderick A. Palmore, general counsel for General Mills Inc., to its board of directors.
Palmore, 60, also serves as chief compliance and risk management officer and secretary for the cereal and snack maker, which he joined in 2008. He also worked at Sara Lee from 1996 to 2008 and for a series of law firms and the U.S. Department of Justice between 1977 to 1996.
Goodyear CEO Rickard Kramer said the tire company will benefit from Kramer's "broad business knowledge and public board experience."
His addition will bring Goodyear's board to 11 directors.
Shares of the Akron, Ohio-based company rose 26 cents, or 2.3 percent, to close at $11.52.
