Manufacturers Honor Tennsco Corporation of Tennessee with Award for Community Service

-  The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) recognized the Tennsco Corporation of Dickson, Tenn., with the Sandy Trowbridge Award for Excellence in Community Service. The Award honors an NAM member company that has shown exemplary leadership in serving its community or state and is an example of the giving spirit of our nation’s manufacturers and businesses.

Tennsco is a small privately-owned company and employs more than 500 employees at six plants in Dickson. Tennsco employees spend their time volunteering and contributing to the Community Foundation of Dickson County, community housing programs and the Humane Society. The company also supports efforts throughout the community to improve recreational facilities and provide educational scholarships in Tennessee.

"The commitment to community service by Tennsco and its employees truly embodies the legacy of Sandy Trowbridge," said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. "Tennsco’s volunteerism and service are a great example of the leadership role manufacturers play in their communities."

The Trowbridge Award is named after the late Alexander B. "Sandy" Trowbridge, former Secretary of Commerce who served as president of the NAM from 1979 to 1989. Trowbridge was known for his leadership on behalf of manufacturing and for his strong commitment to community service.

"We feel finding ways to support our community is an important part of being good corporate citizens," said Tennsco President Stuart Speyer. "We take great pride in the passion our employees bring to community service projects to help improve the lives of the people in our community. Dickson County has been good to Tennsco, and we believe it’s important to give back to our community through volunteerism and service. Our employees set a great example with their dedication to service."

Tennsco Corp. began operation in 1962 headquartered in Dickson, Tenn. The company produces steel storage and filing products at six plants utilizing state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment.
