EPA Awards Over $1 Million to the UNO Research and Technology Foundation (LA)
(DALLAS – June 24, 2011) The
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $1,112,800 to the
University of New Orleans Research and Technology Foundation for
water quality improvement projects in the Lake Pontchartrain
Basin.
These projects will focus on the reduction or
elimination of sewage related pollution and provide education and
outreach to local residents. Included in these projects is water
quality monitoring to determine the health of water within the Lake
Pontchartrain watershed and protection of an interior shoreline
marsh to address the problem of migrating oil. Additional projects
will include the analysis and design of coastal shoreline
protections against erosion.
