Gov. David Paterson says the global microchip consortium International Sematech will move a subsidiary to upstate New York from Texas, adding 100 more jobs to its existing operations.
He says New York will invest $20 million and $80 million will come from the company to relocate International Sematech Manufacturing Initiative Inc. to the University at Albany's College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
ISMI is a subsidiary created in 2003 to help chip makers reduce costs. State officials said Tuesday it's the final piece in Sematech's relocation from Austin, where it was founded in 1988.
The deal to move its headquarters and other operations was announced in 2007. The state approved borrowing $300 million to help fund the relocation and Sematech promised to invest another $300 million.
