Hitachi Names CEO For North American Division

Japanese electronics company Hitachi Ltd. has tapped Masao Hisada to be chief executive for its North American division effective April 1.

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (AP) -- The Japanese electronics company Hitachi Ltd. has tapped Masao Hisada to be chief executive for its North American division effective April 1, the company said Tuesday.

Hisada, vice president of the company's corporate marketing group, will replace Tadahiko Ishigaki, who has been named vice president and executive officer of Hitachi Plant Technologies Ltd.

In his new role, Hisada will serve as chairman of Hitachi subsidiary Hitachi America Ltd., which makes and markets computer systems products and industrial equipment and services throughout North America. He was chief executive of the unit from 2004 to 2006.

Hitachi's shares were up $1.34, or 4.9 percent, to $28.50 in afternoon trading.
